As is typical of the Neo-grotesque style the italics are oblique slanted in construction and have the same advance width as the uprights. Both Solidus and Solidus Open possess the same horizontal and vertical metrics, so they can be used interchangeably to create tonal variation without impacting text flow. Intended as a companion family to Solidus, Solidus Open has angled terminals which introduce more vigour to the letterforms and take it closer to a classic Grotesque in appearance. Solidus Open is available in a robust range of weights from a wafer-thin Hairline to a hefty Black, each with accompanying italics. Each font supports 96 Latin-based languages and comes equipped with a range of useful OpenType features. Solidus Open is suitable for a wide range of applications and ships in both static and variable formats. Its simplified features, generous spacing and squarish curves imbue a sense of sobriety and allow the textual information to take centre stage, whether in body copy or at display sizes. Inspired by the heuristic typography of the Concrete Poetry movement, Solidus Open is a hardworking and unobtrusive sans in the Neo-grotesque style.
