In the October, 1933 issue of Motion Picture Herald, various article titles were set in one of the most prevalent choices of typography during the Art Deco era: thick-and-thin lettering. Many variations of what was first popularized by Morris Fuller Benton's 'Broadway' designed in 1927 for American Type Founders have been rendered in both metal type and hand lettering. Movie Theater JNL is yet another interpretation of this classic style, and is available in both regular and oblique versions.
